Congratulations and job well done!!
Healthy Lunch Ideas
Just a reminder that our Grade 1 to 3 classrooms do not have microwaves. Due to the number of heat ups being sent to, instructional time was being affected and students were not having enough time to eat as they were waiting for their lunches.
Here are some healthy ideas from Alberta Health Services on lunches which do not require heating up at school:
Lunch should be a choice from each of the four food groups. How much is eaten will depend on your child's age, appetite and activity level. Try using some of these lunches:
*Plain popcorn
* Dried Fruit or 100% dried fruit leathers
* Salads with meat and cheese added
* Cottage cheese (low sodium)
* Soups in a thermos
* Whole wheat wraps with meat, cheese and shredded veggies (lettuce or carrots)
* Fresh fruit or vegatables
Safe Crossing
Safety is one of our main focuses at Norwood School! Thank you to the Safety School Patrol we are assisting our students and parents in crossing at safe times at our two designated cross walks. We encourage all our visitors, parents and students to use the crosswalks as the front of our school is a bus zone and it is difficult for our bus drivers to see if children and adults cross infront of them (it is a no see zone, meaning the driver has a good chance of not seeing you).
Thank you for being great role models -- students and parents and using our cross walks.
School Council Information
Thank you to all the families at Norwood for selling Chocolates! At this time all funds need to turned in to the office.
The next school council meeting will be on May 7th@7:00pm in the Staff Room. Everyone welcome.
April Leadership Activities
Leadership is planning an Earth Week activity! Norwood School will be participating in a Community wide litter clean up. Classes will be assigned certain areas within the Norwood Community.
The Norwood Leadership Group is excited to have the opportunity to attend the Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools Student Leadership Inititative Conference at the Drill Hall on April 30th. The conference is planned by students from Wetaskiwin Composite High School this year.
Our Star Grouping activity this month will link to Earth Day as each student will plant a seed and be able to take it home to plant once the ground thaws.
ECS Registration
We are currently accepting ECS Registration at Norwood School!
Thank you to all the families who were able to attend the ECS registration night and to those who dropped off their registration forms. Depending on enrollment numbers Norwood may once again have two ECS classes. If this is the case we will be having a morning and afternoon class. Selection for the classes will be based on those who have their registration forms in (first come, first choose).
If you have questions or concerns,please feel free to contact the school.
